Seasons of Change Series

I’ve been feeling a little guilty. I haven’t done as much work as I’d like on the new novel series.
It’s not that I don’t want to. Or that I’m not inspired. The truth is, as I said in a previous post, it’s become a bit difficult to focus.
Moving house, plus starting a new job, has to be one of the most stressful things a person can do. And I did both at the same time! So it has taken a while to get into the rhythm.
Having said that, I have written about 30,000 words so far on Change of Heart. It’s the first in the series and each novel will follow the family fortunes from that period.
I have to say that the character of the fiancé annoys me to no end. He is a chauvinist, in the worst possible way. Yes, it’s written in the 1950s, but this is, I believe, when things started to change for women and equality. In the historical context, women went to work during World War II while the men were off fighting. Many of the women became mechanics, or worked in factories and did many jobs that were traditionally considered ‘men’s work’. So in a way, I think it proved that femininity had very little to do with women’s capabilities.
I suppose I’m a bit biased toward the character. I grew up in an era where we were told “Girls can do anything”.
This is a series I’ve been wanting to do for a while. Even though I already have many works-in-progress. Most of those I work on when I get inspiration. But these days I prefer to work on one book at a time. If only to push myself to finish it.
Check out my works-in-progress page. You’ll see what I mean.
